Reese Witherspoon, acclaimed actress and entrepreneur, is gearing up for the second installment of her Shine Away event, scheduled for October in Los Angeles. Connected by AT&T and hosted under her media company Hello Sunshine (now part of Candle Media), Shine Away aims to empower women by offering a platform to reconnect with joy, passions, and transformative tools.
The event, which debuted in 2023 and will take place at nya studios in L.A., features a lineup of programming and activations designed to inspire attendees. Witherspoon expressed enthusiasm for expanding upon the success of the inaugural event, stating, “After such a phenomenal marquee event, we’re thrilled to go bigger and bolder for our second Shine Away.”
She emphasized the event’s goal to foster an inclusive environment where storytellers, creatives, thought leaders, brands, and fans can converge to share meaningful narratives and find personal fulfillment. “Beyond delivering a fun and inclusive experience, we want to motivate all attendees to think beyond the weekend,” Witherspoon added. Whether launching a business or seeking like-minded connections, Shine Away aims to serve as a catalyst for women to create lives they truly desire.
Witherspoon’s entrepreneurial journey extends beyond acting, having launched production company Type A Films in 2000, which produced acclaimed adaptations like “Wild” and “Gone Girl,” along with the HBO series “Big Little Lies.” In 2016, she founded Hello Sunshine, dedicated to championing female-driven stories. Additionally, Witherspoon founded the clothing brand Draper James and recently introduced a co-working and networking space in Nashville.
The Shine Away event addresses the pressing issue of burnout among women, offering actionable tools for personal and professional growth. Last year’s event featured notable figures such as Jennifer Garner, Mindy Kaling, and Tracee Ellis Ross, among others, with this year’s lineup set to be announced soon.
“AT&T and Hello Sunshine set out with a mission to create an experience that demonstrates the power women have when they connect, and it’s working,” commented Kellyn Kenny, Chief Marketing & Growth Officer at AT&T. The event aims to foster meaningful connections and conversations that empower women to explore new possibilities.
Maureen Polo, Head of Direct-to-Consumer at Hello Sunshine, highlighted Shine Away’s role in uniting influential leaders from entertainment and business sectors with the Hello Sunshine community, promoting organic and impactful interactions.
