Sharon Osbourne has spoken out against conspiracy theories surrounding Princess Kate’s cancer treatment and criticized those who criticized the royal for altering a photo.
Princess Kate underwent major abdominal surgery and started chemotherapy for cancer during a six-month absence from public life from Christmas Day to June 15. However, her hiatus sparked speculation about her whereabouts, intensified by backlash over her editing of a family portrait on Mother’s Day.
Osbourne addressed Kate’s critics on an episode of her podcast, The Osbournes, saying, “On Mother’s Day in England, Kate had a photo taken with her children. Someone claimed she had photoshopped the picture, saying, ‘Look at her arms, that’s not her hand.’ It’s just her hand. Who cares?”
Osbourne’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, praised Kate’s dignified handling of the situation, saying, “I think she’s handled every step of this journey with dignity.”
The controversy led multiple international picture agencies to retract the image, sparking a dispute with Kensington Palace. As a result, Kate and Prince William now release photos directly on their social media, bypassing agencies.
Amid mounting speculation online, Kate addressed the public on March 22, revealing her cancer diagnosis in a video message. Reports also emerged of unauthorized attempts to access her medical records at The London Clinic, where she underwent surgery.
Osbourne’s comments underscore a broader debate about privacy and public scrutiny within the royal family, prompting discussions about the handling of personal information in the media.
