Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis, opened up about meeting Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte backstage at Taylor’s Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium. Travis and his brother Jason discussed the encounter on their podcast, New Heights, where they described the royal family as “an absolute delight.”
Reflecting on meeting Prince William, Travis admitted feeling unsure about royal etiquette, saying, “I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow, curtsy, or just shake their hand like an American.”
Prince William, celebrating his 42nd birthday, attended the concert with his children, George and Charlotte, who were captured in a selfie with Taylor Swift after the show. William later posted a selfie with Taylor, thanking her for a great evening.
Swift also shared a photo of herself with William, George, Charlotte, and Travis, captioning it, “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start.”
During the concert, footage showed William dancing among the crowd as Swift performed “Shake It Off.”
Travis recounted the experience on his podcast, exclaiming, “We met royalty, guys! Your Royal Highness.”
His brother Jason added, “He was awesome. He was a good dude.”
Travis mentioned being briefed before the meeting, noting, “Because it wasn’t an official royal event, we didn’t have to bow. If it were, then we would have.”
He humorously noted his brother’s respectful behavior, jokingly stating, “I’d never seen Jason more respectful—he put his beer ten feet away.”
The brothers praised the royal family’s approachability, describing Princess Charlotte as having “fire” and noting her curiosity and engagement during their interaction.
Travis commended William and Kate’s parenting, saying, “She had fire to her. She was asking questions… I love it when parents encourage their kids to be present and vocal.”
The podcast episode concluded with admiration for the royal family’s down-to-earth demeanor despite their royal status.
