In audio played on CNN from author Ramin Setoodeh, Trump is heard emphasizing Swift’s beauty, using the word “beautiful” five times in about 20 seconds.
The transcript, released approximately two weeks ago, shows Trump acknowledging Swift’s talent while predominantly discussing her physical attractiveness. He admitted his unfamiliarity with her music, referring to it as a “blank space” in his knowledge.
Trump also speculated on Swift’s political leanings, questioning whether her liberal stance was genuine or a facade.
While Swift has not extensively commented on the 2024 presidential race, she previously criticized Trump in 2020 for what she perceived as his role in promoting “white supremacy and racism.” She publicly endorsed President Joe Biden during the 2020 election, and there are reports suggesting Biden’s team hopes for her endorsement once again.
Critics of Trump have condemned his recent comments about Swift’s appearance, describing them as unsettling and inappropriate.
