There is disappointing news for fans of Dominic Rains and his role on Chicago Med. According to a Deadline report, Rains will be leaving the drama series after portraying Dr. Crockett Marcel for five seasons.
While the Season 9 finale set up his departure, it also left the possibility for a return open. So, what lies ahead for Dominic Rains and Chicago Med?
Chicago Med – Dr. Crockett Marcel Takes A Leave
As fans of Chicago Med know, Dr. Crockett Marcel was told to take a leave of absence due to the traumatic deaths he witnessed. During the Season 9 finale, Sharon Goodwin (played by S. Epatha Merkerson) advised Marcel to take time off following the deaths of two patients, a boy and his father.
This leave of absence has led fans to speculate about a potential return. The term “leave” often implies a temporary break rather than a permanent departure. However, this doesn’t guarantee a return. Only time will reveal what happens next.
Changes in The One Chicago Franchise
Dr. Crockett Marcel was introduced as an emergency room surgeon at the beginning of Season 5. Rains started as a recurring character and was later promoted to a series regular. He also participated in One Chicago crossovers.
Rains’ exit is not the only change happening at Chicago Med. Showrunners Andy Schneider and Diane Frolov are leaving the series after nine years and will be replaced by Allen MacDonald.
Additionally, Rains is not the only actor to exit the One Chicago franchise recently. Eammon Walker, who played Fire Chief Wallace Boden, left Chicago Fire during the Season 12 finale. Tracy Spiridakos, who portrayed Hailey Upton, exited Chicago PD as Season 11 concluded.
