Hugh Bonneville, known for his role in Downton Abbey, is gearing up for a new venture in the film industry. He is set to star alongside Bridgerton’s Ella Bruccoleri and Michael Socha from Being Human in the upcoming crime comedy, Go Away!. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this indie project has already started production in Hertfordshire.
Joining them in this comedic caper are Steve Speirs, Jo Martin, Niky Wardley, Jeff Mirza, and Chris Gascoyne, rounding out the ensemble cast. The film is penned and directed by Ed Kear and Cringo Williamson, who expressed their enthusiasm about the project, stating, “We had a wonderful time developing this film and are thrilled to see it come together with such a talented cast and crew.”
Go Away! promises to deliver a blend of humor and heart, though specific details about the plot remain tightly guarded. What is known is that the story will revolve around Kyle Burden (played by Michael Socha), whose life takes a chaotic turn following an incident involving a bailiff and complications with his landlord’s property viewings, all while managing his marijuana-growing enterprise.
Hugh Bonneville’s role in Go Away! has yet to be disclosed, but anticipation is high given his recent busy schedule. Currently, the 60-year-old actor is also appearing in the new ITV series Douglas is Cancelled, a four-part comedy-drama centered on the challenges faced by esteemed broadcaster Douglas Bellowes after a controversial comment threatens his career.
Looking ahead, Bonneville is set to feature in Paddington in Peru, slated for release in November 2024. Additionally, he has entered production for the third installment of the beloved Downton Abbey film series, scheduled for global release on September 15, 2024. The sequel will reunite many original cast members, including Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, and Jim Carter, among others, alongside new additions like Dominic West and Paul Giamatti.
This latest collaboration promises to be a highlight in Bonneville’s illustrious career, showcasing his versatility across both comedic and dramatic roles on both the big and small screens.
