Thomas Markle Expresses Sadness Over Grandchildren’s Royal Exclusion Amid Family Rift.
Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has voiced his concerns over his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, amidst the ongoing tensions with the Royal family.
In a recent interview with New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, Thomas Markle expressed his sorrow, stating that his grandchildren are being “denied” a Royal lifestyle. Despite his strained relationship with Meghan, Thomas expressed his desire to spend time with Archie and Lilibet. He mentioned the difficulty of not having met his son-in-law, Prince Harry, despite living relatively close in Rosarito, Mexico, approximately 400 kilometers from the couple’s residence.
Thomas also revealed his wish to connect with King Charles to discuss their shared longing for their grandchildren. He expressed his sadness after witnessing Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, proudly participating in the Trooping the Colour ceremony. He lamented that Archie and Lilibet are missing out on knowing their cousins and participating in such Royal events, which he believes is their birthright.
“It struck me as very sad that Meghan and Harry’s kids are being denied the right to know their cousins, who look like fantastic children, or take part in things like Trooping the Colour, which is their birthright,” Thomas stated.
Thomas believes that as Archie and Lilibet grow older, they will begin to question their connection to the Royal family. “I find myself wondering how Archie and Lilibet will feel in a few years’ time when they realise all the things they have missed out on,” he added.
Expressing his longing to spend time with his grandchildren, three-year-old Lilibet and five-year-old Archie, Thomas remarked that he never imagined he and King Charles would be in a similar situation. Rumors suggest that King Charles is eager to visit Montecito, California, to present himself as a “friendly grandfather” to his grandchildren. Royal analyst Tom Quinn noted, “He is desperate to see them and hates the idea that Archie and Lilibet will not remember him as the warm, friendly grandfather he wants to be.”
Thomas emphasized that Meghan remains the “one person I want to hear from most.” Approaching his 80th birthday on July 18, he expressed doubt that Meghan would contact him to wish him a happy birthday. Their relationship deteriorated following his absence at Meghan’s wedding in 2018 and a subsequent paparazzi incident. Reports indicate they have not spoken since then.
