Selena Gomez, known for her vibrant nail colors like butter yellow and Old Hollywood red, is now showcasing a subtler look that aligns with her astrological sign, Cancer. The Rare Beauty founder has embraced a quieter, water-sign-inspired approach to her manicure.
Instead of opting for a bright shade like brat green, Gomez revealed a minimalist manicure that echoes the refined styles favored by English royalty. This chic, understated look, called the “summer blush” manicure, was crafted by her regular nail artist, Tom Bachik, who also works with Jennifer Lopez.
Gomez’s new manicure is in line with the latest trends. When Glamour interviewed Michelle Nguyen, nail expert and CEO of PLA Nails, about upcoming nail trends for 2024, she highlighted this minimalist style.
“It seems like quiet luxury is here to stay for a bit,” Nguyen told Glamour. “Many people are now embracing a sleek, minimalistic look for their nails, and we’re seeing a lot of sheers and pigmented skin tones and nude shades trending for 2024.” This shift makes sense after a year dominated by bright pink, Barbie-inspired nails. It appears that even Gomez felt the need for a change.
To achieve Gomez’s glamorous yet low-key look, Bachik began with Tweezerman tools to create a perfect foundation. He used Apres Nail Gel-X Natural Almond in Medium and painted them with Apres Light and Shadow Gel Polish in 608 Could’ve Would’ve Should’ve, a sheer nude.
