Nick Cannon, the television personality known for his large family, has taken an unusual step to protect his fertility. As a father of 12 children, Cannon values his ability to expand his family even further. This has led him to take out a $10 million insurance policy on his most private asset.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cannon explained his decision. “You hear about all these different celebrities insuring their legs,” he said. “So I was like, ‘Hey, well, I got to insure my most valuable body part.’ Just making sure nothing goes wrong.”
Cannon revealed this decision during the celebration of his son Legendary Love’s second birthday. In addition to Legendary Love, whom he shares with Bre Tiesi, Cannon has a large brood. He is the father of 13-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; seven-year-old Golden, three-year-old Powerful Queen, and 21-month-old Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; three-year-old twins, Zion and Zillion, and 19-month-old Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; 21-month-old Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole; and 18-month-old Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott.
Despite his desire to expand his family, Cannon has admitted to feeling stretched thin by his many parental responsibilities. “Being a father of multiple kids, the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he shared in December 2022, while awaiting the arrival of his 12th child. “One, ’cause I’m constantly working, and two, because I’m just spread thin.”
Cannon also emphasized that he does not plan to rely on government child support systems. “I don’t plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child support,” he said, highlighting that he manages his children’s needs independently, without court involvement. He noted that none of the mothers of his children have complained about this arrangement.
Nick Cannon first gained fame as a teenage actor on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy show All That in the late 1990s. He went on to create and star in The Nick Cannon Show, which aired from 2002 to 2003. His popularity continued to rise with his music career, releasing his debut self-titled album in 2003, and as the host of Wild ‘N Out, which premiered in 2005. Today, Cannon remains a well-known figure on television, hosting various game and competition shows, including The Masked Singer.
