Tom Cruise, the legendary actor known for his exceptional marketing skills, recently lent his star power to promote a new film featuring his former “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star, Glen Powell. Cruise made an appearance at the European premiere of “Twisters,” set to be released on July 14.
Cruise posted a photo on his social media account, sharing a moment with Powell in a theater lobby, both holding branded popcorn bags. “Fun night with friends, watching a movie!!” he captioned the photo.
This gesture, though not as grand as his previous stunt of piloting a helicopter onto an aircraft carrier for the “Top Gun: Maverick” premiere, still made a significant impact. With his 7 million followers, Cruise’s endorsement is expected to bring considerable attention to Powell’s new film.
Supporting “Twisters” also aligns Cruise with key figures in his career. The film’s story is credited to Joseph Kosinski, the director of “Top Gun: Maverick,” and Steven Spielberg, an executive producer who previously directed Cruise in “War of the Worlds.”
Cruise is no stranger to promoting movies outside his own projects. He has consistently advocated for a strong release schedule to keep the theatrical experience vibrant. Last summer, he shared pictures of himself in front of posters for upcoming releases like “Oppenheimer,” “Barbie,” and “Joy Ride,” encouraging audiences to visit theaters.
He also celebrated Harrison Ford’s return as Indiana Jones, marking 40 years of the iconic character. “This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters,” Cruise wrote. “Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indy and one of the most iconic characters in history. I love a double feature, and it doesn’t get more explosive (or more pink) than one with ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie.'”
Cruise’s efforts to support fellow actors and filmmakers highlight his commitment to the industry and the importance of the communal movie-going experience.
