Prince George, the 10-year-old heir to the throne, has developed a passion for the iconic rock band Queen, according to his mother, Princess Kate.
The young prince’s fascination with the band began after watching Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Adam Lambert perform “We Will Rock You” at Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations in 2022. Since then, George has been exploring Queen’s extensive catalog of hits.
Princess Kate revealed that George is especially fond of “We Are the Champions.” He hopes to sing along triumphantly this Sunday when England faces Spain in the European Championship final. Despite some initial confusion about the band’s lineup, George’s interest has thrilled Queen’s current frontman, Adam Lambert.
“It was such an honour,” Lambert said after meeting Princess Kate at Westminster Abbey’s Christmas carol service. “She was absolutely lovely, down to earth, and charming.”
Princess Kate shared details of George’s growing interest in Queen, a band that reached its peak long before George was born in 2013. Should England win the Euro 2024 final, the royal household might celebrate with “We Are the Champions.” George’s enthusiasm for both Queen and football suggests a lively celebration could be in store at Kensington Palace.
The young prince has also been seen with his father, Prince William, the chairman of the Football Association, during visits to Wembley Stadium to watch the Three Lions and Aston Villa.
