CBS Studios President David Stapf recently provided updates on the drama series “Your Honor” and the potential for a third season of “American Vandal.”
“Your Honor,” starring Bryan Cranston, premiered on Showtime in 2020. Initially intended as a miniseries, it was renewed for a second season in 2021. The second season, intended to be the final one, debuted in January 2023. While both seasons have been available on Paramount+, the series was recently added to Netflix, where it has achieved significant success.
“We’re extremely proud of the show and knew how good it was,” Stapf told Deadline. “Having it air on another platform, we anticipated more people discovering it; audiences always find things that are good.”
When asked about the possibility of a third season for “Your Honor,” Stapf said, “We love the show, and we’re hoping that it can continue, but it’s a little too soon to know or to tell. We would like there to be a Season 3, but we’re ways away.”
Stapf also addressed the potential return of “American Vandal.” The rights to the Netflix series have reverted back to CBS Studios, and the possibility of continuing the series is being explored.
“We’re exploring that; we loved that show and that title,” Stapf commented. “There’s nothing imminent, but we hope to bring it back in some fashion at some point.”
“American Vandal,” a mockumentary series parodying true crime documentaries like “Making a Murderer,” premiered its first season in 2017, with the second season following in 2018. Netflix decided to cancel the series in October 2018.
Currently, both seasons of “Your Honor” and “American Vandal” are streaming on Netflix.
