Jay Ellis, known for his role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” has announced the birth of his second child. Ellis and his wife, Nina Senicar, shared the news over the weekend, revealing they welcomed their son, Noa Gray Ellis.
The couple posted the joyful news on Instagram on Saturday, July 13. The posts featured a heartwarming family photo, including their 3-year-old daughter Nora Grace holding the newborn, who arrived on Thursday, July 11. Ellis kept his caption simple, sharing his son’s name and birthdate, while Senicar expressed her excitement, writing, “Wow, we have a son!”
Ellis, who played Lt. Reuben ‘Payback’ Fitch in the 2022 film, met Senicar in 2015 at a Los Angeles bar, introduced by a mutual friend, according to PEOPLE. They became public as a couple in October 2015 when Senicar shared a photo of them at an amfAR fundraiser. After five years of dating, Ellis proposed in Bali in January 2019, as reported by Vogue. The couple married in Italy on July 9, 2022, after postponing their wedding twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pair welcomed their daughter Nora in November 2019. They announced they were expecting their second child in March, with Senicar sharing photos of her baby bump on Instagram, captioning, “And just like that… Baby Nr. 2 loading!”
Friends and celebrities reacted with joy to Noa Gray’s arrival. Ellis’ “Insecure” co-star Yvonne Orji commented, “Aunt Tasha reporting for duty,” and Natasha Rothwell echoed, “Aunt Tasha reporting for duty.”
Quinta Brunson of “Abbott Elementary” wrote, “Aww congrats y’all,” and Nischelle Turner added, “Love love LOVE!!! Congratulations to you guys!”
Ellis, adjusting to life with two children, shared his mixed feelings about the addition. He told PEOPLE before his son’s birth, “I’m terrified. One kid was crazy. Two kids, come on, man. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m very excited. I think two is enough. It’s where it ends…I think I finally achieved some version of calm in my house and now it’s about to be chaos all over again.”
