Brad Pitt has filed a legal motion to block a request made by Angelina Jolie in their ongoing winery lawsuit, labeling it as “intrusive.”
The former couple, divorced since 2019, has been in a legal dispute over Jolie’s shares of their jointly owned French Château Miraval, which escalated in 2022 when Jolie allegedly sold her portion to a Russian oligarch without Pitt’s knowledge.
In the latest development, Pitt has asked the court to reject a demand from Jolie’s legal team to disclose third-party communications concerning their 2016 plane incident.
Pitt’s lawyers criticized Jolie’s request as overly broad and intrusive, describing it as a sensationalist fishing expedition. They stated that Pitt had already offered to provide sufficient documents regarding the flight incident that triggered their divorce, which Jolie rejected.
According to Pitt’s legal team, Jolie’s request includes sensitive matters such as Pitt’s therapy sessions post-flight, allegations of drug and alcohol use, and other personal details irrelevant to the winery dispute.
They argued that these private communications are unrelated to the French winery issue and accused Jolie of attempting to re-litigate their divorce through the business dispute.
The Independent reached out to Jolie’s legal representative for comment but has not received a response.
The legal battle intensified after Pitt sued Jolie for allegedly selling her stake in their jointly owned French property without his consent, to which Jolie responded with a countersuit. In her countersuit, Jolie disclosed allegations of abusive behavior during the 2016 private jet incident that led to their divorce.
Pitt has vehemently denied all allegations of verbal and physical abuse.
The couple shares six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
Earlier this year, a Los Angeles judge ordered Jolie to submit eight years’ worth of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) as part of the ongoing legal proceedings. The ruling followed a motion by Jolie’s legal team to release communications that they argued would demonstrate Pitt’s demands regarding NDAs in relation to the winery.
Pitt’s lawyers subsequently requested that Jolie provide the NDAs she had signed, emphasizing their relevance to the contractual disputes over the winery shares.
Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, expressed willingness to comply with the order, stating that it provides transparency in addressing issues related to Pitt’s alleged behavior.
The legal proceedings continue as both parties navigate the complexities of their ongoing disputes.
