Alfie Clarke, known for his role as Arthur Thomas in Emmerdale, has confirmed his return to the popular soap opera. Clarke shared the news on his social media accounts, much to the delight of fans.
Arthur’s absence from the show was explained last month when Laurel, his on-screen mother, mentioned he was traveling around Australia. Fans have been eagerly awaiting his return.
Clarke took to Instagram to announce he is back on set. Fans responded with excitement, leaving comments like, “Welcome back. It will be great to see you on our television screens,” and “You’re my favourite actor on Emmerdale @alfieclarke.official.” Other fans added, “We missed you in Emmerdale, Alfie,” and “At last, really miss you!”
When Arthur returns, he will find himself in the middle of intense drama. His mother, Laurel, recently suffered a heart attack following a heated argument with her husband, Jai.
Though she has been discharged from the hospital and returned home, the couple decided to split up due to the ongoing tension. Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Laurel, commented on the situation, saying, “I don’t think there’s any way back for them as a couple now, sadly. She is sticking to her guns, without a doubt. Also, she thinks about the goodness of Ashley, her late husband, and how no one will ever compare to him. He was sort of saintly, whereas Jai is a rotter! Her heart attack made her recalibrate her life and see things for what they are. Laurel has a second chance at life – does she really want to be with a man like that?”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
