Broadway’s Cabaret is about to see new stars shine.
Starting September 16, Adam Lambert, known for his role as the lead singer of Queen and his appearance on American Idol, and Auli’i Cravalho, recognized for her performances in Moana and The Power, will take on the roles of Emcee and Sally Bowles, respectively. Their performances will be part of a limited engagement running through March 30.
Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, who currently portray Emcee and Bowles, will give their final performances on September 14.
Lambert expressed his excitement about his Broadway debut, stating, “Performing on Broadway has always been a childhood dream of mine. With this production of Cabaret, the timing feels right. The show’s themes resonate deeply with me, and given today’s sociopolitical climate, they feel more relevant than ever.”
Cravalho also shared her enthusiasm: “Joining the ranks of talented women who have played Sally Bowles is incredibly exciting. I am especially inspired by Gayle Rankin, whose performance I admired closely. Being part of a show with such a rich history and an outstanding cast is truly an honor.”
The revival of Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club made its Broadway debut in April after a successful run in London’s West End, where it won several Olivier Awards in 2022. The production earned nine Tony nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical, and won for Tom Scutt’s scenic design.
The current cast of Cabaret also includes Bebe Neuwirth, Ato Blankson-Wood, Steven Skybell, Henry Gottfried, and Natascia Diaz.
