No ticket? No problem. Taylor Swift’s dedicated fans found a way to experience her sold-out Eras Tour in Munich, even without official passes.
Approximately 50,000 fans without tickets gathered on Olympic Hill(Olympiaberg) this past Saturday and Sunday to catch a glimpse of Swift’s performances from afar. This elevated spot, one of Munich’s highest, offered a clear view of the stadium below. A local travel site notes, “For major concerts, seats on the Hill are nearly as sought-after as actual tickets, and they are free.”
This isn’t the first time fans have used the hill to view a major concert. Earlier this year, Metallica fans flocked to the spot, and last summer, rock enthusiasts gathered there for Rammstein. Swift’s fans are known for their creative approaches to attending her shows, often gathering outside venues to enjoy the music even if they don’t have tickets.
Swift’s concerts in Munich might have set a new record for female concerts in the city. With 74,000 attendees inside the stadium, and thousands more on the hill, the turnout was extraordinary. The hot 88-degree weather didn’t deter the crowds. Local police estimated 25,000 fans on the hill on Saturday, according to German news service DPA.
During her Sunday performance, the 14-time Grammy winner expressed her gratitude. “We are fortunate to perform for 74,000 beautiful people in this stadium, and if reports are correct, about 50,000 more outside the stadium,” Swift said. “Thank you for coming to the Eras Tour, whether you’re inside or outside the stadium. We are thrilled to be here with you.”
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) from the Saturday show, Swift acknowledged the fans outside, saying, “We have thousands of people listening from the park outside the stadium. You’ve made us feel incredibly welcome, and we’ll spend the night trying to make it up to you.”
Swift made headlines when her Eras Tour tickets went on sale on November 15, 2023. Ticketmaster reported over 2 million tickets sold in a single day, a record for one artist. Her tour, which achieved a record $1.04 billion in revenue in 2023, is expected to generate similar figures this year.
Swift will continue her international tour with three shows in Warsaw, Poland, starting Thursday. She will then perform in Austria and the U.K. before a break. The tour resumes in October with nine shows across three U.S. cities and concludes in Canada, with performances from mid-November in Toronto to early December in Vancouver.
