Sharon Osbourne has responded to Amanda Holden’s recent remarks, where Holden seemed to label Osbourne’s actions as “bitter and pathetic.” Osbourne countered, asserting that Holden will “never be in my league.”
Holden, a judge on “Britain’s Got Talent,” made her comments during an interview with The Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine. She was discussing the appearances of former X Factor judges Osbourne and Louis Walsh on the latest season of “Celebrity Big Brother.”
While on the reality show, Osbourne mentioned a fallout with Simon Cowell, her former colleague on “The X Factor.” She stated that she would never work with him again, even for “all the money in the world.” Commenting on Osbourne and Walsh’s remarks about Cowell on CBB, Holden, who has been with Cowell on BGT since its inception, expressed her displeasure.
“I hated seeing certain people on a reality show dissing Simon,” Holden said. “He’s the one who gave them all their chances, a lot of money, and a lifestyle they probably wouldn’t have had. It’s bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her two sisters in the background – just stabby, stabby, stabby.”
Holden added that she found the pair “so nasty and awful,” urging them to “just be gracious.”
In response, Osbourne posted a lengthy message on X, addressing Holden directly. She acknowledged Holden’s loyalty to Cowell but corrected what she saw as inaccuracies in Holden’s statements.
“The truth is, you don’t know me, Amanda,” Osbourne wrote. “You know nothing about my history in the music industry, my achievements, the artists I have worked with, the shows that I’ve produced, and my global celebrity. Unlike you, the brand of Sharon Osbourne is known worldwide.”
Osbourne emphasized that her success was not solely due to her participation in Cowell’s talent shows. “Yes, Simon paid me very well. Probably more than what you’re receiving today, but all of that, my darling, went on a few handbags,” she said.
Listing her career accomplishments, Osbourne told Holden, “I think you’re missing the point here. No disrespect to Simon Cowell, but he NEEDED ME for musical credibility on ‘X Factor,’ and I delivered for him. Together, we made a great team. It was only after several seasons of ‘X Factor’ that Simon started to build his music empire, and I give him much kudos for what he built.”
Osbourne concluded by highlighting the success she and her husband, musician Ozzy Osbourne, enjoyed even before meeting Cowell. “We had a fantastic lifestyle before I ever heard of Simon Cowell,” she said. “On closing, I hope I’ve given you a proper education about me so that the next time you choose to mention me, you’ll have some facts in your pocket. The bottom line, Amanda, is that you’ll never be in my league, and you’ve picked on the wrong ugly stepsister.”
In response to Osbourne’s post, a spokesperson for Holden issued a brief statement: “Amanda is aware of Sharon’s incredible career but, just like her, Amanda will always defend those close to her.”
Digital Spy reached out to representatives for both Holden and Osbourne for further comment. Osbourne’s team stated that she had nothing to add, while Holden’s representatives have not yet responded.
