Pax Jolie-Pitt, the 20-year-old son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has been discharged from the ICU following a recent e-bike accident in Los Angeles. According to an exclusive source for PEOPLE, Pax is now starting a lengthy recovery process.
The source explained, “Pax has been released from the ICU. He suffered complex trauma and now faces a long road of recovery and physical therapy.”
The insider also highlighted the family’s gratitude for the emergency responders and medical staff who provided prompt and effective care. Jolie, 49, remains by Pax’s side, supported by his siblings, who have been actively visiting and assisting him. “They are all very close,” the source added.
Pax was admitted to the hospital after the accident on July 29. TMZ reported that Pax was not wearing a helmet when he was riding an e-bike on Los Feliz Boulevard around 5 p.m. local time. He sustained a head injury and experienced hip pain.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that an accident involving a man in his early 20s on a scooter was reported at 5:12 p.m. on July 29. A severe traffic collision report was subsequently filed.
In addition to Pax, Jolie and Pitt have five other children: Maddox, 22; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
