Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence are in talks to star in a new thriller called Die, My Love. If both actors sign on, it will be their first film together. The movie will be directed by Lynne Ramsay, known for her work on Joaquin Phoenix’s 2017 thriller You Were Never Really Here and the 2011 psychological thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin, which starred Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller.
Ramsay has written the script with Enda Walsh, who recently adapted the screenplay for the 2024 drama Small Things Like These, starring Cillian Murphy. According to Deadline, the story of Die, My Love is set in a remote rural area and follows a mother struggling with psychosis. It is not yet known who Pattinson would play. Lawrence is expected to take on the challenging role of the mother. She recently starred in the 2023 comedy No Hard Feelings, while Pattinson’s latest film, Mickey 17, is set for release in January 2025.
Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence Could Have Starred in Twilight.
Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for the role of Bella Swan in Twilight, but was rejected in favor of Kristen Stewart, according to Variety. Lawrence said, “They turned me down immediately. I didn’t even get a callback. But my life would’ve been totally different. I got Hunger Games I think, like, a year later. It was probably after Winter’s Bone.” Had Lawrence been cast as Bella Swan, it would have drastically changed the Twilight series and her career trajectory.
Pattinson’s role as Edward Cullen in Twilight catapulted him to international fame. There was a chance he and Lawrence could have starred together much earlier if she had been cast in Twilight. The complex relationship between Pattinson and Stewart, along with the significant impact of the Twilight films on 2010s pop culture, makes it hard to imagine Lawrence in the franchise. Lawrence reflected, “I was still in a franchise, so I was still trying to counteract the franchise-ness. I’d still be doing that if I was in Twilight. But I almost didn’t do Hunger Games because Twilight had come out and that fandom had happened.”
