Taylor Swift isn’t the only celebrity godparent to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children.
Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine, shared in a Monday interview with Variety that he is the godfather of the couple’s 1-year-old son, Olin. Levy revealed that Olin’s voice cameo as Baby Deadpool in the film was his “favorite.”
“Little by little, all of the Reynoldses started being a part of the movie, including their youngest,” the 55-year-old said. “As the proud godfather of Olin, that might be my favorite voice cameo.”
Levy did not mention if he is also the godfather of Lively and Reynolds’ other three children—James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4.
Following the release of the new Marvel film in July, fans noticed cameos from Lively, 36, who appeared as Lady Deadpool, and their middle daughter Inez, who voiced Kidpool.
When asked why it was important for Reynolds to include his family in the film, Levy explained, “It just honestly was that they were available and always nearby.” He added, “A lot of times, we would call people into our edit room and have them record something.”
In April, Levy told PEOPLE, “Ryan and I have become extremely close friends.”
Responding to a question about their time spent together at CinemaCon on April 11, Levy said, “A lot. More than I’ve spent with any male friend since literally high school.”
The two Canadian filmmakers, who also worked together on 2021’s Free Guy and 2022’s The Adam Project, live close to each other in New York City. Levy mentioned, “We live half a block from each other, so it’s all very intertwined—which makes it very convenient for two guys who work as hard as we do.”
Friendship appears to be a key factor in choosing godparents for Lively and Reynolds.
Swift, who has referenced the Lively-Reynolds children’s names in some of her songs, has been friends with the couple for years. She even acknowledged them during her Madrid concert on May 29.
“I have to say that on folklore,” Swift told the crowd, “some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez, and Betty.”
The Blank Space singer confirmed she is the godparent to the couple’s children in a social media post promoting the new Deadpool movie.
