The eagerly awaited third season of Euphoria may face significant delays, despite earlier plans to begin filming in January 2025.
An insider revealed that the January 2025 start date was set based on when the cast could potentially reunite. However, this date appears to be more of an optimistic target rather than a guaranteed start.
“It’s a ‘best case scenario’ date that doesn’t consider various possible obstacles,” the source explained.
One major factor that could affect the timeline is Zendaya’s schedule, particularly if she enters the Best Actress race this year for her role in Challengers. This could lead to a significant delay in production.
The source also pointed out that Colman Domingo, Zendaya’s co-star and onscreen mentor, may also be occupied with campaigning for his role in Sing Sing during the 2024/2025 awards season.
Regarding the show’s scripts, the insider mentioned that they are “taking a long time” to develop. They added that while there are fall deadlines for script completion, there is no assurance that they will be ready by then.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty, but one thing is clear: HBO is eager to bring the series back and is showing more patience with Euphoria than with some of their other projects. I’ll be surprised if filming actually starts next January,” the source concluded.
