Brad Pitt recently hosted George Clooney and GQ magazine staff at his French winery for a photoshoot, despite an ongoing legal dispute with Angelina Jolie over the property.
Pitt, 60, and Clooney, 63, who will appear together in the upcoming film Wolfs, discussed their long-standing friendship in a new cover story for GQ’s September issue. The interview and photoshoot took place at Château Miraval, the expansive estate in Correns, France, where Pitt and Jolie, 49, were married in August 2014. The winery has been at the center of a legal battle since Jolie sold her share in 2021, following their purchase of the property in 2011.
According to GQ, Clooney and his wife Amal, who have 7-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, bought a home nearby Château Miraval three years ago. During the interview, Clooney arrived in a black Mercedes convertible and remarked, “I’ve been here for two years and never visited. It’s only nine minutes away!”
Pitt, reflecting on his time at the vineyard, shared, “I’m really just trying to enjoy the people that I love around me and just living. The air is fresh, and the grass is green. I’ve become that guy a little bit.”
GQ also released behind-the-scenes footage of the photoshoot, showcasing the vast location.
The legal dispute involves allegations from Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, which purchased Jolie’s 50 percent share. They claim that Pitt and his company, Mondo Bongo, have misused Château Miraval’s funds. They allege that Pitt spent millions on personal projects, including over $1 million on a swimming pool for his exclusive use. A source close to the litigation dismissed these claims as “absurd,” asserting that Pitt’s involvement was crucial to Miraval’s success.
Jolie’s legal team has stated that she tried to sell her share back to Pitt but withdrew due to a disagreement over a non-disclosure agreement. Her lawyer urged Pitt to “end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing” by withdrawing his lawsuit.
Both Jolie and Pitt, whose divorce negotiations have been ongoing for nearly eight years, are set to attend the Venice Film Festival in September. Jolie will be featured in the Pablo Larraín drama Maria, while Pitt’s film Wolfs will also be showcased. Wolfs is scheduled to hit theaters on September 20.
