Halle Berry Reveals Blake Lively Inquired About Her Playing Storm in ‘Deadpool,’ Ryan Reynolds Never Reached Out.
Halle Berry recently shared that Blake Lively had asked her if she would reprise her role as Storm in the Deadpool franchise. However, Berry revealed that Ryan Reynolds, who co-wrote and co-produced the film, never followed up on the opportunity.
In an interview with ComicBook at the premiere of her new Netflix film, The Union, Berry, 58, explained, “No, I was never in talks to join the Marvel movie’s cameo list.” She continued, “Blake asked me once if I’d be in her husband’s movie as Storm. I told her I’d do it if he asked, but he never did.”
Berry previously played Storm in several X-Men films alongside Hugh Jackman, who returns as Wolverine in the new Deadpool movie. This latest film pays homage to the Marvel movies produced by 20th Century Fox from 2000 to 2019 and features cameos from various superheroes from that era.
Other notable cameos include Chris Evans as Johnny Storm from the 2005 Fantastic Four film, Jennifer Garner as Elektra from Daredevil, Wesley Snipes as Blade, and Dafne Keen as Laura/X-23 from Logan. Channing Tatum also makes a brief appearance as Gambit, a role he was set to play before Disney’s acquisition of Fox halted the project.
Ryan Reynolds, who shared his thoughts on Instagram in July, said, “This isn’t just Deadpool saying ‘Oh, Hello’ to the MCU. It’s Deadpool – and Hugh, Shawn [Levy, director] and me – saying farewell to a place and an era that literally made us.” He expressed gratitude for the world of 20th Century Fox and thanked Kevin Feige and Disney for the opportunity to share this journey.
Berry has previously expressed interest in returning as Storm. In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, she said, “I would absolutely return to it. It’s a beloved character. I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm. So, if we could find a version or storyline that made sense, I would definitely do it.”
