What Jennifer Garner’s ‘Look of Love’ Toward Ben Affleck Really Signifies: Body Language Expert Weighs In on Their Reunion Amid Jennifer Lopez Marriage Troubles.
Jennifer Garner is reportedly “proud” of Ben Affleck, even as he faces marital challenges with Jennifer Lopez.
The former couple reunited for a friendly dinner in New Haven, Connecticut, last Saturday. According to body language expert Judi James, the two appeared entirely at ease with one another, despite the ups and downs they experienced during their marriage.
Garner and Affleck, who divorced in 2015 after 10 years together, have maintained a close relationship as they co-parent their three children: Violet, 18; Fin, 15; and Samuel, 12.
In exclusive photos shared by the Daily Mail, the exes were seen together as they prepared to send Violet off to college, with Garner casting a warm gaze at her former husband.
Despite the affectionate moment, Garner and Affleck’s relationship remains strictly platonic. Garner is currently in a happy relationship with her boyfriend of six years, businessman John Miller.
Meanwhile, Affleck’s current wife, Jennifer Lopez, was noticeably absent during the reunion, which comes amid reports of trouble in their marriage. Judi James noted that Lopez’s absence might have been a relief for Affleck, who appeared to find comfort in the familiarity of his ex-wife and children. “Ben seems to be seeking a ‘safe harbor’ here,” James explained. “Amid his current marital issues, he appears to be retreating to the familiar and non-judgmental environment of his first family, where he can simply be himself.”
James further observed that Garner’s body language indicated approval and pride in Affleck. “As she watches one of their children speak, her cheeks are rounded, and she displays a beaming, dimpled smile with softened, narrowed eyes,” James said. “This expression doesn’t change when she looks at Ben, indicating there’s no lingering bitterness or coolness that sometimes accompanies exes spending time together with their kids.”
The expert also pointed out that Garner and Affleck appear to share a united front as parents, with their body language reflecting a sense of harmony and mutual understanding. “They seem completely at ease in each other’s company, engaging in relaxed conversation even when their children are momentarily distracted,” James added.
According to James, the family outing appeared to have a positive effect on Affleck, lifting his spirits amid his recent personal struggles. Earlier that week, Garner made a quiet visit to Affleck’s home on his birthday, and later that night, she enjoyed a Bruno Mars concert with friends at the opening of the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Affleck, who recently purchased a $20.5 million home in the Pacific Palisades, had been living in a $100,000-a-month rental in Brentwood. Meanwhile, Lopez has been staying at their Beverly Hills mansion, which is currently listed for $68 million.
Last week, a source told People that Lopez is “trying to find a new home to start fresh,” adding that the couple appears to be “moving on separately.”
