Despite her extensive experience working on movie and TV sets, Zoë Kravitz found it challenging to say “Action!” when directing her debut film “Blink Twice.” She told Entertainment Tonight, “It was crazy. I think I started saying, ‘Let’s go!’ because ‘Action!’ gave me anxiety. It was ‘Let’s go! and ‘Here we go!'”
“Blink Twice” follows two friends, played by Naomi Ackie and Alia Shawkat, who are invited by a tech mogul (Channing Tatum) to join him and his acquaintances (Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osment and Levon Hawke) on his private island. The vacation takes a dark turn after days of indulging in alcohol and drugs.
Tatum, who stars in the film, recalled shooting a teaser before production began. He said, “I knew we were in for a true creative grind, and that’s why it’s such a good movie.” Ackie praised Zoë Kravitz’s directing skills, noting the challenges they faced filming in Mexico during the summer. “There’s things going wrong constantly,” she said.
While snakes are central to the plot, the cast and crew had to watch out for spiders, with Ackie recounting, “There were baby scorpions and tarantulas, and I was getting bitten by fire ants.”
Lenny Kravitz, Zoë’s father and a renowned musician, makes a brief cameo in the film. “It’s for a split second,” Zoë said, laughing. The footage shows Lenny working out in a gym wearing a transparent tank top, leather pants, and sunglasses, which went viral earlier this year.
Although Lisa Bonet, Zoë’s mother, does not appear in the movie, Zoë mentioned, “She does spiritually. She was my anchor throughout the whole film.”
Zoë also expressed hope for a third season of “Big Little Lies,” stating, “I’m waiting eagerly,” despite not having seen a script yet. Both Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon had previously confirmed their efforts towards a new season to Variety.
