Post Malone has knocked Taylor Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) from the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with his new country album, F-1 Trillion. Swift’s album has dropped to No. 3, while Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess takes the second position.
Malone’s album debuted at No. 1 for the week ending August 22, selling 250,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The album features the singles “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, and “Pour Me a Drink,” a collaboration with Blake Shelton. F-1 Trillion achieved the second-largest debut for a country album in 2024, following Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. It is also the second album to displace Swift’s TTPD since its release in April.
TTPD fell two spots to No. 3 after previously holding the top position.
Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) was the only other album to dethrone TTPD, but Swift’s record quickly regained its position the following week.
Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, collaborated with Swift on the opening track of TTPD, titled “Fortnight.” Swift praised Malone’s new album after he played it for her on the set of the music video for “Fortnight,” in which they both appear. She shared on Instagram, “Was lucky enough to hear this amazing music on the set of the Fortnight video when Austin played it for me. It’s incredible how versatile his artistry is. And just the most down-to-earth guy alive.”
Malone reciprocated the admiration, calling Swift a “once in a lifetime” talent. He expressed his gratitude on Instagram, saying, “I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey. I love you so much. Thank you, Tay.”
Despite his success, Malone has stated that he does not aspire to reach the same level of fame as Swift or Beyoncé. He remarked in an interview with The New York Times, “I can’t even imagine being at their level — it must suck. That’s so much pressure.”
As Post Malone continues to make waves in the music industry, fans are eager to see how his new country sound will evolve and what impact it will have on his career.
