Comedian Nikki Glaser is gearing up to host the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, bringing her signature humor and sharp wit to one of Hollywood’s most celebrated events. Known for her no-holds-barred Comedy Central roasts, where she has famously taken on figures like Tom Brady, Glaser is ready to take the stage in what she describes as one of her “favorite nights of television.”
As 2024 comes to a close, anticipation for the upcoming award season is building, with the Golden Globe Awards kicking off the festivities in January. Glaser’s hosting gig marks a new chapter for the event, which has long been a platform for both honoring achievements in film and television and offering a dose of self-deprecating humor.
In a statement to USA Today, Glaser expressed her excitement, saying, “The Golden Globes is one of the few times that show business not only allows but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked. At least, I hope so. (God, I hope so).” She added with a hint of her trademark humor, “I just hope to continue in that time-honored tradition that might also get me canceled.”
Glaser reflected on the history of memorable Golden Globes monologues, citing past hosts like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais as inspirations. “Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from Golden Globes monologues,” she noted, highlighting the importance of saying what audiences didn’t know they needed to hear.
Glaser’s comedic credentials are well-established, having participated in numerous Comedy Central roasts, including skewering stars like Alec Baldwin and Rob Lowe. Earlier this year, she made headlines with her Netflix special where she humorously tackled Tom Brady’s high-profile divorce from Gisele Bündchen, earning widespread acclaim for her performance.
The 2024 Golden Globes, hosted by comedian Jo Koy, saw Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer take home the top honor for Best Motion Picture – Drama, alongside wins for Nolan, composer Ludwig Göransson, and stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. Other notable films like Barbie and Poor Things also made their mark.
As Glaser prepares to take the reins from Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted the previous year, the entertainment world is eager to see how she will put her own spin on the event.
The 2025 Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday, Jan. 5, on CBS and Paramount+, with nominations set to be announced on Dec. 9. The countdown to Hollywood’s big night has officially begun.
