Following her divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024, Jennifer Lopez, known as JLo, has reportedly kept a strong friendship with actor Matt Damon. Sources indicate that the two were seen together at the premiere of their film, Unstoppable, at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 6.
Lopez and Damon posed for group photos at the event, where a source told PEOPLE that JLo is “very close with Matt” and “enjoyed spending time” with him. The absence of Affleck, who co-produced Unstoppable with Damon through their production company, Artists Equity, was notable at the premiere.
During the afterparty at The Ritz-Carlton, Lopez was seated outside with Damon’s wife, Luciana, and co-star Don Cheadle when Damon joined them. The two friends engaged in a lengthy conversation, sharing laughs and holding hands as they spoke.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been close friends since childhood, having met in Cambridge when they were young. The film Unstoppable tells the inspiring true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and won an NCAA national championship in 2011. Lopez plays Robles’ mother, Judy.
JLo and Ben Affleck married in July 2022 but separated two years later, with Lopez filing for divorce on August 20, 2024. Sources say their split was tumultuous, with Lopez reportedly feeling she was putting in more effort to save the marriage than Affleck. The divorce has drawn attention due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement, suggesting potential complications.
Despite the challenges, Lopez’s appearance at TIFF marked her first major public outing since the divorce. Unstoppable is set to be released in select theaters in December and will later be available on Prime Video.
