Perry Farrell, the frontman of Jane’s Addiction, is seeking medical care after an onstage incident with guitarist Dave Navarro during the band’s concert in Boston on September 13. His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, shared this news in an Instagram post on Saturday.
In her message, Etty Lau thanked fans for their supportive words and described her husband as the “gentlest of souls.” She expressed surprise at Farrell’s physical outburst, noting that he must have been “pushed to his absolute limit.” She also issued an apology on behalf of the couple.
“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she wrote. “Perry already has appointments with an otolaryngologist and a neurologist.” In a previous post, she mentioned that Farrell had been experiencing tinnitus and a sore throat before the concert.
During the Boston show, crew members had to restrain an agitated Farrell after he struck Navarro. Following the incident, he apologized to his bandmates and fans for his “inexcusable behavior.” This apology came shortly after news broke that the second half of the band’s reunion tour would be canceled.
In a statement provided to Variety, Farrell said, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult. After reflecting on my actions, I feel it is right to apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, as well as to fans, family, and friends. My breaking point led to inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
