Lady Gaga is set to release two albums in the coming months, starting with her new soundtrack album titled Harlequin. This album will accompany her role in the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, where she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix. The album is scheduled to drop on September 27 and will feature 13 tracks.
Gaga has been teasing this announcement on social media, sharing cryptic posts that included phrases like “I’m ready for my interview” and “Don’t tell me what to wear.” She also hinted at the album with billboards displaying the number “6.5,” suggesting that she does not consider this a full studio album, unlike her forthcoming seventh studio album, referred to as “LG7.”
In Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga portrays Harleen Quinzel, a reimagined version of Harley Quinn. The film, which is a musical sequel to the Oscar-winning Joker, opens on October 4. Gaga described her experience working on the film as “unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”
The tracklist for Harlequin includes both original compositions and newly recorded versions of classic songs. Some notable titles are “Get Happy,” “That’s Entertainment,” and “The Joker.”
This announcement follows Gaga’s recent collaboration with Bruno Mars on the single “Die With a Smile.” A representative confirmed that this song will not be included in her upcoming studio album. Gaga shared that she was working on her own music when she was invited to Mars’s studio, leading to their late-night songwriting session.
Gaga has been actively promoting her music and has been spotted in the studio with various collaborators, including Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt and longtime associate Bloodpop.
At a recent premiere, Gaga expressed her excitement about her new music, stating, “I have written so many songs and I have produced so many songs.” She added that this new work is different from anything she has created before.
Fans can look forward to both Harlequin and her seventh studio album in the near future, marking an exciting period for the multi-talented artist.
