Future’s latest album, Mixtape Pluto, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking his third No. 1 album in just six months.
The album sold 129,000 equivalent units, primarily driven by streaming. In contrast, Katy Perry’s new album, 143, entered the chart at No. 6 with 48,000 units.
Future’s Mixtape Pluto is his first solo project to reach No. 1 this year.
He previously topped the charts with two collaborative albums alongside Metro Boomin: We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. Although Mixtape Pluto had only 10,000 in sales, it garnered an impressive 156.62 million streams.
This achievement places Future in an elite group; the last artist to have three No. 1 albums within six months was the Beatles in 1965-66.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry’s 143 debuted with disappointing numbers compared to her past successes. Of the 48,000 units sold, about 37,500 were physical sales, boosted by various vinyl and digital editions. The album’s streaming figures were modest, with only 13.11 million on-demand streams.
Perry’s release comes after a well-received performance at the MTV VMAs but has struggled to generate a hit single. The lead single, “Woman’s World,” peaked at No. 63 on the Hot 100 and was followed by “Lifetimes,” which failed to chart despite fan expectations.
Lil Tecca’s Plan A also debuted in the top ten at No. 9 with 42,000 units, marking his biggest weekly tally since 2019.
The remainder of the top ten included returning entries: Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess climbed to No. 2 with a total of 129,000 units sold after a special vinyl release boosted sales by 64%. Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet landed at No. 3 with 100,000 units, while Post Malone and Morgan Wallen tied for No. 4 with 53,000 each. Taylor Swift held the No. 7 spot with 47,000 units, Billie Eilish was at No. 8 with 45,000, and Noah Kahan rounded out the top ten at No. 10 with 38,000 units.
Final results for Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart will be released on Monday.
