Warner Music Group has announced significant leadership changes within its recorded music division. Eric Wong has been appointed as the president of East West Records and the head of global A&R for recorded music. Jessica Keeley-Carter has been promoted to fill Wong’s previous position as chief marketing officer of recorded music.
Both executives will report directly to WMG CEO Robert Kyncl.
In his new role, Wong will oversee East West Records, which serves as a connector within WMG’s global ecosystem rather than a traditional label. His responsibilities include identifying talent in various regions and facilitating connections between those artists and the appropriate labels and teams worldwide. Wong will also focus on signing and developing artists while fostering collaborations across the company’s roster.
Keeley-Carter, who previously held the title of executive vice president of global marketing at WMG, will now lead the company’s marketing efforts as CMO. She aims to enhance WMG’s marketing services on a global scale, ensuring that local initiatives resonate with audiences while driving fan engagement.
These appointments come as part of WMG’s restructuring efforts to create a more streamlined regional structure, which is supported by enhanced global services. This change aims to establish direct channels between local expertise and global opportunities.
Kyncl praised Wong’s extensive relationships within the artistic community and his deep understanding of the global music landscape.
He described Keeley-Carter as an innovative marketer who will help the company navigate an increasingly complex industry.
Wong joined WMG in 2020 as chief marketing officer for recorded music after nearly a decade at Universal Music Group, where he served in various roles including COO of Island Records. Keeley-Carter has been with WMG since 2019, initially serving as senior vice president of global marketing before her promotion to executive vice president in 2022.
These leadership changes reflect WMG’s commitment to adapting to the evolving music industry while maximizing opportunities for its artists.
