‘Gladiator 2’ is set to make its global debut in London on November 13, 2024, marking a significant event for fans of the franchise. This sequel to Ridley Scott’s acclaimed 2000 film will be featured as a Royal Film Performance, a fundraising gala often attended by members of the royal family. Paramount Pictures has partnered with The Film and TV Charity for this special occasion, which follows a similar event for “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022.
While there may be earlier screenings, the London premiere will be the first major red carpet event for the film, showcasing its cast and crew.
“Gladiator 2” continues the saga of power and revenge in Ancient Rome, taking place 24 years after the original. The story follows Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, who is forced into the Colosseum after his home is overtaken by tyrannical emperors. Driven by rage and a desire to restore Rome’s glory, Lucius must confront his past to find strength.
Ridley Scott expressed his excitement about the sequel, stating, “Ever since making ‘Gladiator,’ I kept asking myself ‘is there a sequel?’ After nearly 25 years, we are excited to finally answer that question.” He emphasized that this premiere supports an organization dedicated to helping the UK film industry.
John Fletcher, managing director at Paramount Pictures UK, shared his enthusiasm for hosting the 72nd Royal Film Performance. He believes that partnering with The Film and TV Charity will enhance this highly anticipated movie event.
The film will be released in the UK on November 15 and in the U.S. on November 22. Marcus Ryder, CEO of The Film and TV Charity, highlighted that this event not only celebrates talent behind the scenes but also raises essential funds to support those in the film and television industry during challenging times.
Fans can expect an action-packed return to the Colosseum as “Gladiator 2” prepares to captivate audiences once again.
