Robert Downey Jr. has once again shown his support for Johnny Depp, referring to him as his “brother” during a recent visit to Depp’s art exhibit in Manhattan. This comes two years after Depp’s highly publicized legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.
Despite facing significant losses in his divorce and defamation case against Heard, Depp appears to be thriving in his artistic endeavors. He recently opened an immersive art exhibit titled A Bunch of Stuff at the Starrett-Lehigh Building in Chelsea. The exhibit showcases his artistic evolution and personal artifacts.
Downey Jr., a longtime friend of Depp, attended the exhibit and shared his admiration on social media. In a video, he praised Depp’s work, saying, “That’s my boy! Alright, let’s take a look at the show,” while showcasing some of the artwork. He captioned the post, “My brother JD is an artist through and through, no surprise, just delight.”
This isn’t the first time Downey Jr. has publicly supported Depp. After Depp won his defamation trial against Heard, Downey Jr. celebrated with him via FaceTime, taking time out of his busy schedule to show his support.
Their friendship began on the set of the 2000 film Before Night Falls and has grown stronger over the years. Downey Jr. also praised Depp after he won an Academy Award for his role in Oppenheimer, highlighting their mutual respect and loyalty.
Depp’s art exhibit features pieces from various stages of his life and reflects his journey as an artist. He described art as a sanctuary for him, stating, “Creation is not always a comfortable process, but for me it’s a necessary one.”
The bond between Downey Jr. and Depp exemplifies their enduring friendship amidst personal challenges and public scrutiny.
