Lee Jung Jae, the star of Squid Game, recently shared that Gong Yoo had to slap him hard during the ddakji scene in the series. This revelation comes as excitement builds for the upcoming second season.
In an interview released by Netflix on October 10, 2024, Lee discussed behind-the-scenes moments from Squid Game. He explained that he asked Gong Yoo to deliver real slaps to meet the director’s expectations for the scene where his character plays ddakji to win money. Lee endured multiple slaps to capture the perfect take.
The director also wanted Lee to express the joy of a soccer player celebrating a goal after winning against Gong Yoo. Lee encouraged fans to rewatch the first season before the new one premieres, ensuring they are fully immersed in the story.
Squid Game Season 2 is set to debut on December 26, 2024. The story will continue from where it left off, with Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) abandoning his plans to move to the U.S. in order to reunite with his daughter and expose the organization behind the deadly games.
Returning cast members include Lee Byung Hun as the mysterious Front Man and Wi Ha Jun as Hwang Jun Ho. Gong Yoo will reprise his role as the recruiter, adding his charismatic presence to the new season.
