Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have made a generous donation of $1 million to support relief efforts for Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which have severely impacted states like Florida and North Carolina.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, expressed gratitude for the couple’s contribution, stating, “We thank Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for donating $1 million to our disaster relief fund for Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Their ongoing support during crises has significantly aided our network in providing essential resources to communities facing devastating losses.” The funds will help food banks supply basic necessities such as water and ready-to-eat meals.
The storms have had tragic consequences; Hurricane Milton has claimed at least seven lives in Florida, while Hurricane Helene’s death toll has surpassed 227. Milton has moved from Florida toward the Bahamas after causing extensive flooding and damaging Tampa’s Tropicana Field stadium, where rescue workers were stationed.
Lively and Reynolds have a history of philanthropy. Last October, they donated $1 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross to aid children in Israel and Palestine amid the Israel-Hamas War. They also contributed $1 million to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation during the actors’ strike.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple donated another $1 million, split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. Their charitable efforts extend to other causes as well, including safe drinking water initiatives through Water First Education & Training and support for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Filming for recovery efforts is ongoing, with more than 8,000 federal personnel deployed across affected areas. The couple’s latest donation will aid in immediate relief and long-term recovery for those impacted by these devastating hurricanes.
