Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Kiernan Shipka have been announced as honorees at the Newport Beach Film Festival, which will take place from October 17 to 24. The festival will also feature a screening of “The Last Showgirl” on October 20, followed by a Q&A session with director Gia Coppola, writer Kate Gersten, and actress Kiernan Shipka. Shipka, who stars alongside Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, will receive the Artist of Distinction Award.
Additionally, screenwriters Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein of “Inside Out 2” will be honored with the Artist of Distinction Award for Screenwriting after a special screening and discussion of the animated film on October 19. Qualley, currently seen in “The Substance,” will receive the Spotlight Award, while Cannavale, who stars in “Ezra,” will be recognized with the Artist of Distinction Award during the festival’s awards brunch on October 20.
Other previously announced honorees include Nicolas Cage, Joan Chen, Colman Domingo, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Sheryl Lee Ralph, George MacKay, Diane Warren, and June Squibb. The brunch will also feature a conversation with Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch and present the Legends and Groundbreakers Award to Amy Poehler.
The festival will highlight behind-the-scenes talent with a Master of the Frame panel featuring leading cinematographers on October 19.
Participants include Alice Brooks (“Wicked”) and Lawrence Sher (“Joker: Folie à Deux”).
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Newport Beach Film Festival will showcase a diverse selection of international films, including notable titles like “Blitz,” “Nightbitch,” and “The Piano Lesson.”
