Will Smith is reuniting with director Michael Bay for a new Netflix film titled Fast and Loose. This collaboration comes nearly 30 years after the original Bad Boys movie, which marked Bay’s directorial debut.
The film’s official synopsis describes Fast and Loose as the story of a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memory of his past. As he tries to piece his life together, he discovers he has been living two separate lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent.
The script for Fast and Loose was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson, based on an original screenplay by the Hoeber brothers. In addition to starring in the film, Smith will also serve as a producer alongside Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, Jon Mone, Ryan Shimazaki, and his former manager James Lassiter.
Michael Bay directed the first two films in the Bad Boys franchise, released in 1995 and 2003. He is also known for directing the first five Transformers movies and other major films like Pearl Harbor and The Rock.
Earlier this year, Smith reprised his role as Mike Lowrey in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which has grossed over $220 million worldwide. This success has helped push the entire Bad Boys series past the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
In addition to Fast and Loose, Smith is set to star in an upcoming sci-fi thriller titled Resistor, which focuses on a physicist who discovers a device that can reflect gravity. Last month, it was reported that he had to step back from another project, Sugar Bandits, due to scheduling conflicts.
Fast and Loose does not yet have a release date. Meanwhile, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is currently available for streaming on Netflix in the U.S.
