The South Korean drama Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, which debuted on October 12, 2024, has quickly gained popularity. Its second episode saw a significant jump in ratings, nearly doubling the viewership from the first episode. In contrast, Iron Family reached record ratings with its latest episode.
Starring Kim Tae Ri, Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born tells the story of a young girl aspiring to be a theater actress in the 1950s. The series highlights the challenges faced by women during that era. According to Nielsen Korea, the show’s second episode achieved an impressive 8.2% rating on October 14, 2024.
The series is based on the webtoon Jeong Nyeon, created by Seo Irae and illustrated by Namon. Set in post-war Korea in 1956, it follows Jeong Nyeon, a talented young woman from Mokpo who lacks money and formal education but possesses a natural singing ability. She dreams of joining a traditional women’s theater company and rising to fame.
In addition to Kim Tae Ri, the cast features Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Yoon Hye, Woo Davi, Hyun Seung Hee, Lee Se Young, Jung Ra El, Jo Ah Young, and others.
Meanwhile, Iron Family has reached new heights with its sixth episode, recording an average nationwide rating of 16.0%. This makes it the most-watched program of the week.
Another ongoing K-drama also performed well, achieving an average nationwide rating of 4.5% with its second episode release.
