Ozzy Osbourne, who revealed his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2020, made a notable appearance at the Son of Monsterpalooza event on October 12. The legendary Black Sabbath singer was accompanied by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and their children, Kelly and Jack Osbourne, at the autograph signing event near Los Angeles.
At 75 years old, Ozzy attended the pre-Halloween convention wearing a black T-shirt, layered chain necklaces, and his trademark round glasses. His family showed their support during this rare public outing.
“Thanks so much to everyone that came to @monsterpaloozaofficial this weekend!!” Jack Osbourne posted on Instagram, expressing his enjoyment of meeting fans. Jack, who has three children with his ex-wife Lisa Stelly and a younger daughter with his current wife Aree Gearhart, helped prepare Ozzy for the event. On October 4, he shared a video on Instagram showing Ozzy using an exercise band to stretch, captioning it, “We are in full training mode.”
Ozzy has faced significant health challenges over the past few years. In addition to his Parkinson’s diagnosis, he underwent major spinal surgery in 2022. The following year, he announced his retirement from touring, stating that he felt he was no longer “physically capable” of performing.
In a February 2023 statement, he reflected on his struggles: “As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine. My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.” He added, “Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F**KS ME UP, more than you will ever know.”
After undergoing a final surgery on his neck later that year, Ozzy remarked on The Osbournes Podcast, “Regardless of the way it ends up after tomorrow, I’m not doing it anymore. I can’t.”
Throughout his health journey, Sharon Osbourne has been a steadfast supporter. She has openly discussed the challenges of caring for someone with Parkinson’s disease, which can affect movement. In a 2022 ITV documentary titled Paxman: Putting Up With Parkinson’s, she described the drastic changes in their lives. “I just think of my husband, who was very energetic, loved to go out for walks, and did a two-hour show on stage every night, running around like a crazy man. Suddenly, your life just stops—life as you knew it,” she said.
Sharon expressed her heartbreak over Ozzy’s condition, noting, “When I look at my husband, my heart breaks for him. I’m sad for myself to see him that way, but what he goes through is worse. When I look at him and he doesn’t know I’m looking at him, I’m, like, crying.”
Despite the difficulties, Sharon highlighted a silver lining: “The family, we spend so much more time together.”
