Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, appeared frail as he received assistance leaving an autograph signing event in Los Angeles on Monday.
The 75-year-old rock star has faced numerous health challenges in recent years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2020 and has undergone several surgeries following a fall in 2019 that worsened an existing injury. Last year, Osbourne revealed his struggles with spinal surgeries, stating they left his feet feeling as if they had “bricks tied to them.”
Concerns for Osbourne’s well-being have grown, particularly after he was seen using a wheelchair and walkers during his recovery. His latest appearance, requiring help to walk, has further alarmed fans. Earlier this month, Osbourne candidly admitted on his podcast, Madhouse Chronicles, that he is “no longer sober.” He discussed his long history with substance abuse, acknowledging that he occasionally uses marijuana.
“I am happier, but I am not completely sober,” he stated, praising his wife Sharon for her role in keeping him accountable. “She kicks my butt all the time and would make life difficult if I fell back into old habits.”
Osbourne recalled a recent incident when a doctor administered a dose of ketamine, which reignited his cravings. “He put a tiny bit in me, but that was enough to spark me,” he said.
Despite his ongoing health issues, Osbourne continues to embrace life. He recently collaborated with Aston Villa football club to launch their new kit. Although he has announced that he will never tour again and has decided against further spinal surgeries, Sharon mentioned earlier this year that Osbourne hopes to perform at Villa Park for two farewell gigs.
“His voice is still absolutely perfect,” she stated, emphasizing that he continues to take singing lessons. “Even if you don’t like his music, you can’t not like Ozzy.”
Osbourne has previously explained his forward-leaning posture, attributing it to separation of his shoulder muscles from his skeleton due to back issues.
In February 2023, he announced his retirement from touring, sharing the emotional news with his fans. “This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans,” he said. He detailed his extensive efforts to regain his health, including multiple surgeries and therapies, but concluded that his body remains too weak for touring.
In March, Osbourne addressed rumors regarding his health, responding to those who suggested he is on his “last legs.” “This fg press drives you nuts,” he said during an interview on SiriusXM. “I looked in the magazine, ‘Ozzy’s on his last legs,’ I’m fg not dying. I’ve been working my guts out to try and get back on my feet.”
