Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) has announced that their final concert will take place at BST Hyde Park in London next summer. This highly anticipated show is scheduled for July 13, marking the first performance revealed in the festival’s lineup. Tickets will be available for purchase starting this Friday at 9 a.m. BST.
Currently, ELO is on a farewell tour across North America, which began in August in Palm Desert, California, and will conclude this Friday in Los Angeles. Lynne expressed his excitement about the upcoming show, stating, “My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014. It seems like the perfect place to do our final show. We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our U.K. fans. As the song goes, ‘we’re gonna do it One More Time!’”
ELO was originally formed in 1972 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan. The band is known for blending rock music with classical elements, producing hits like “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Evil Woman,” and “Livin’ Thing.” After disbanding in 1986, Lynne pursued a successful solo career, collaborating with notable artists such as George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
In 2001, Lynne revived ELO with the album “Zoom,” followed by two more releases: “Alone in the Universe” in 2015 and “From Out of Nowhere” in 2019. Jim King, CEO of AEG Presents’ European Festivals, praised ELO’s impact on music over the past five decades. He stated, “The live shows are nothing short of extraordinary and a testament to the incredible catalogue of hits we’ve enjoyed for over 50 years.
Hosting their final performance at BST Hyde Park is a true honor.”
As ELO prepares for this momentous occasion, fans eagerly anticipate what promises to be an unforgettable farewell concert.
