Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has shared an update on wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown as he continues to recover from an injury. The Chiefs have faced numerous health challenges this season, impacting both their offense and defense. Brown’s injury, a sternoclavicular joint dislocation, occurred during the team’s preseason opener.
Initially, Brown attempted to heal the injury without surgery, but he did not make sufficient progress. This led to a successful surgical procedure, although reports suggested he might miss the entire regular season. With DeAndre Hopkins now joining the team via trade, the Chiefs are looking for additional support in their receiving corps.
During a recent press conference, Reid was asked about Brown’s potential return. While he did not provide a specific timeline, he offered a positive assessment of Brown’s recovery. “He’s doing great,” Reid stated. “He seems to be on schedule or a little ahead of schedule. It’s going to be a while, but he’s a relentless worker.”
Further optimism came from James Palmer of Underdog Fantasy and Bleacher Report, who reported that there is a “real chance” Brown could return in time for the postseason.
Although it was understood that Brown would need several months to recover after surgery, the possibility of him being activated in January is encouraging for the Chiefs.
Brown is currently back at the facility working on his rehabilitation alongside second-year receiver Rashee Rice. While Rice will not return this season, both players are making strides in their recovery process.
Given the number of injuries the team has faced since August, any positive news is welcomed by the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team.
Reid’s comments suggest that if Brown continues to progress as expected, he could provide significant contributions to Kansas City in the long run.
