Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have publicly backed Jason Kelce following a heated incident at a college football game, where he smashed a fan’s phone after a homophobic remark aimed at his brother.
The confrontation occurred on Saturday at Penn State, where Jason was serving as a guest analyst for ESPN’s “College GameDay.” A video that circulated widely showed a fan shouting, “Hey Kelce! How does it feel your brother is a f-ggot for dating Taylor Swift?” The offensive comment prompted Jason to stop, confront the individual, and smash the fan’s phone onto the ground.
Swift, who has been dating Travis Kelce since last fall, expressed her pride in Jason’s actions. A source close to the couple told DailyMail, “Taylor and Travis were both really shocked by this, considering Jason is one of the nicest guys in the world. It became clear how much he loves and respects Taylor. Travis means the world to him.”
The source added that Jason does not tolerate such derogatory language and views Taylor as family. “The use of the word f-ggot is not okay with him or anyone. This fan crossed the line,” they noted.
Jason Kelce has not publicly commented on the incident. However, fans of both brothers and Taylor Swift praised Jason for standing up against the homophobic remark. Many took to social media to commend him for his loyalty and quick defense of his brother.
“Good for Jason,” one user said. “That guy is a loser.” Another wrote, “Kudos to Jason Kelce. He isn’t someone you want to mess with, especially when you’re bad-mouthing his brother.”
Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, also expressed his appreciation for Jason’s actions on social media, stating, “I shouldn’t say, but whatever. I appreciate Jason Kelce standing up for his family.”
The Kelce brothers have always supported each other throughout their lives. They grew up in Ohio and have developed a close bond marked by both support and friendly rivalry. They co-host a popular podcast called “New Heights,” where they share personal stories and discuss sports news.
Jason has been openly supportive of Travis’s relationship with Taylor Swift. He often teases Travis about dating one of the world’s biggest pop stars and discusses their relationship on their podcast.
Recently, the brothers signed a lucrative deal with Amazon’s Wondery for their podcast, valued at over $100 million. This agreement will expand their unique sports commentary and personal insights to a wider audience.
In addition to their podcasting success, Travis and Jason have created a new cereal that combines three favorites: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, and Reese’s Puffs. “We’d go through two to three boxes of our favorite cereals a week when we were growing up,” Travis said in a statement about their collaboration with General Mills.
Jason Kelce is scheduled to make a public appearance on Monday night in Kansas City as part of ESPN’s broadcast team covering the Chiefs’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
