As Election Day unfolds, celebrities are actively participating in the voting process, sharing selfies with their “I voted” stickers. Among them is Anne Hathaway, who took to social media to motivate college voters, particularly those in Pennsylvania, to remain patient in long lines. She delivered her message through a creative rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Please Please Please.”
In her video, Hathaway expressed gratitude for the turnout at college campuses, saying, “Hey everybody, so I hear that there’s crazy long lines at college campuses, which oh my gosh, you guys thank you for showing up to vote.” After putting on sunglasses, she sang her version of Carpenter’s hit with modified lyrics: “Please, please, please stay on the line / Please, please, please, especially at UPenn and Temple just wait out your time / Voting is magic but also annoying / You waited out this long, let’s make it not boring / Oh please, please, please, hold the line.”
While Hathaway encourages voters through her music, Sabrina Carpenter has also been active this election season. She has focused on getting people registered to vote and has engaged more voters through HeadCount than any other artist in 2024. Carpenter successfully registered 35,814 new voters and connected with 263,087 individuals through giveaways and events during her “Short n’ Sweet” arena tour.
On Election Day, actor Paul Rudd made a surprise visit to Temple University in Pennsylvania. He handed out water to students waiting in long lines to vote. Rudd commented on the situation, saying, “I just wanted to give people water. They’re waiting in line for a long time, and it’s a wonderful thing that all these young people are out voting.”
Rudd praised the students for their commitment as many waited over two hours to cast their votes. He expressed admiration for their perseverance and emphasized the importance of their participation in the democratic process.
As the polls remain open and votes are counted in what is anticipated to be a historic election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, celebrities continue to play a role in encouraging voter turnout and supporting those at polling places.
