Netflix is kicking off the holiday season early, skipping past Thanksgiving to dive straight into Christmas content. The streaming giant has announced a lineup of holiday-themed romantic comedies, with a new movie set to debut every Wednesday in November. The first in the series, Meet Me Next Christmas, began streaming on November 6.
According to Netflix’s logline, Meet Me Next Christmas follows Layla, played by Resort to Love star Christina Milian, as she embarks on a quest to find the perfect man and secure a ticket to the sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert in New York City. Along the way, she meets James, played by Kofi Siriboe, who becomes her romantic interest.
The movie also features an ensemble cast, including Devale Ellis, Tymika Tafari, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, Matt Sallee, Kalen Allen, Nikki Duval, Wesley French, and Brendan Morgan.
Milian shared her excitement for the project in an interview with Tudum, saying, “There’s a sense of magic, love, and anticipation that runs through the whole movie. You never know who they’re going to run into or what’s going to happen next.”
Meet Me Next Christmas marks just the beginning of Netflix’s holiday programming. The streaming service is releasing a total of four romantic comedies this November, plus a brand-new animated film and a special Christmas musical featuring Sabrina Carpenter, set for release in December.
Here’s a look at the full schedule of Netflix’s upcoming holiday releases:
Meet Me Next Christmas – Nov. 6
Hot Frosty – Nov. 13
The Merry Gentlemen – Nov. 20
Our Little Secret – Nov. 27
The Snow Sister – Nov. 29
That Christmas – Dec. 4
A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter – Dec. 6
With its robust slate of Christmas films, Netflix is positioning itself as the ultimate destination for holiday streaming. This is especially important as Hallmark recently launched its own streaming service, packed with Christmas movies, making the competition for holiday content fiercer than ever.
