The next James Bond film may be getting a significant boost, as reports suggest that Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen is being considered to take the helm. According to The Sun, producers of the iconic franchise are interested in McQueen, known for his acclaimed work on 12 Years a Slave.
A source quoted in the report stated, “Steve is one of the UK’s best filmmakers and has an incredible vision.” The producers reportedly reached out to see if McQueen would be interested in directing, and he responded positively. If this collaboration comes to fruition, it could be a remarkable addition to the series.
McQueen’s recent project, Blitz, features Saoirse Ronan and follows his notable success with 12 Years a Slave, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Picture and a nomination for Best Director.
The James Bond franchise is currently in a state of transition following Daniel Craig’s departure after No Time to Die. Speculation about who will succeed him has been rampant, with names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy, and Henry Cavill frequently mentioned. The Sun’s report indicates that casting discussions have resumed, but no official announcements have been made regarding the new Bond actor.
