Lady Gaga is confirmed to appear in the second season of the hit Netflix series Wednesday, according to sources from Variety. The details surrounding her role remain a mystery, but it has been revealed that she will make a cameo appearance. Currently, the show is filming in Ireland.
Initially, the production team had hoped to secure a larger role for Gaga, but those plans did not materialize. Representatives for Netflix did not respond to requests for comment, and Gaga’s team has also declined to provide further details.
This cameo marks Gaga’s latest acting venture following her recent role in Joker: Folie à Deux, where she starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix. She is widely recognized for her impactful music career and has received multiple accolades for her acting. Gaga was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper. Additionally, she has won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Shallow” from the same film and has been nominated multiple times for her work on songs like “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick. Gaga has also appeared in films such as House of Gucci and various seasons of American Horror Story.
Jenna Ortega, who stars as Wednesday Addams, previously expressed her hope that Gaga would join the cast. She noted that after a dance scene from Wednesday Episode 4 went viral on TikTok—set to Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary”—it seemed like a natural fit for Gaga to appear in the series.
In Season 2, Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday Addams. Other cast members returning include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. They have all been promoted to series regulars.
The returning cast also includes Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer. Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane will return in guest roles. New series regulars joining the cast include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Thandiwe Newton will appear in a guest role alongside Christopher Lloyd and Haley Joel Osment.
Wednesday premiered in November 2022 and quickly became a massive hit for Netflix. It is now the most-watched English-language show on the platform and received 12 Emmy nominations, winning four awards. The production of Season 2 faced delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that affected Hollywood in 2023.
While specific plot details for Season 2 remain under wraps, it is expected to delve deeper into horror elements while continuing Wednesday’s story at Nevermore Academy. The new season is anticipated to premiere sometime in 2025.
