Daniel Craig has hinted that he knows who will replace him as James Bond. Since leaving the role after No Time to Die in 2021, there has been much speculation about potential successors, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Rege-Jean Page, and James Norton.
At the Governors Awards held in Hollywood, Craig suggested that the new Bond might be present in the audience while presenting an honorary Oscar to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
With a playful smile, he stated, “If you came here this evening to find out who the next James Bond is, don’t look at me, but he might be in the room… just joking… maybe I’m not?”
The event attracted numerous Hollywood stars, making it hard to identify Craig’s successor. Among those in attendance were Barry Keoghan, Nicholas Hoult, and Paul Mescal.
Following the ceremony, Broccoli and Wilson shared insights into their vision for the next Bond.
Barbara Broccoli emphasized that choosing a new actor is a significant decision. She confirmed that the next James Bond will be male, following Lashana Lynch’s portrayal of Nomi, the first Black female 007 in No Time to Die. The producers are focusing on actors in their 30s to appeal to a younger audience, which may exclude long-rumored candidates like Idris Elba, 52, and Henry Cavill, 41.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains a strong contender for the role despite earlier denials of his involvement. Other names being considered include Rege-Jean Page from Bridgerton, Theo James from The Gentlemen, and Taron Egerton from Kingsman. A surprising new candidate is Leo Woodall, who gained attention for his role in White Lotus and is currently starring alongside Renée Zellweger in the final installment of Bridget Jones.
As fans await further announcements about the next James Bond, Craig’s comments have added excitement to the ongoing speculation surrounding the iconic role.
